BANGALORE: Starting next month, that restless wait at the airport or coffee-breaks in Bangalore’s IT hubs will be a ‘unique’ experience. Faced with the giant task of dishing out Unique Identity (UID) numbers to some 95 lakh Bangaloreans, the department of e-governance is targeting colleges, IT hubs and areas like airports and government offices with high concentration of people.
It is planning to go for 24/7 enrolment in the IT city starting mid-June.
Given the mammoth population of Bangalore — every sixth person in the state now resides in Bangalore district — the government has come up with unique strategies to ensure that every Bangalorean gets his ‘Aadhaar’ by March 2012.
